your name in pulp fiction

Your name in fiction!

your own penny dreadful

F&M Publications are offering you the chance to star in your own Penny Dreadful tale. We are looking for two people aged over sixteen (race, religion, gender etc irrelevant) to be written into a story that will be published in our Halloween 2008 edition. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be immortalised in English literature or, at least, be mentioned in a short bit of cheap pulp fiction. Winners will also receive twenty copies of the publication so they highlight their name with a marker pen and give copies to friends and relatives.

E-mail  your name to [email protected]

Entries must be in by May 31st and winners will be contacted by June 7th.

If you are selected we will require some personal details to build up your character. These might include your job, physical description of self, current favourite clothes, quotes and / or sayings, a bit about your aspirations and / or background, area you live etc. In essence a snapshot of you in 2008 so we can portray you accurately in the tale

The story you will feature in will be called the Shadow from the Blitz and takes place at a site used as a shelter during WW II. There are two characters on offer that we will weave the action around.  The tale itself concerns the practice of shadow trading and the sacrificing of humans or animals to a building.

Shadow traders measured a person's shadow if it fell onto a construction site. These details would be sold -along with a description of the person- to the owners of the site who might then, in lieu of an actual body, bury the shadow measurements in the foundations. The victim whose shadow had been taken in this fashion would then slowly fade away themselves.
